Keeping my Sanity one card at a time!

Monday, August 15, 2011

Wow I can't believe it is August already... I have been out of commission for awhile. We had to move. I hate moving. Moving is never fun. The only thing that is good about this move is we are in a better place!  God has been apart of this move and we are grateful for the new opportunities this has brought to our family. Our kids are in the same school districts and we moved up the road into a great neighborhood!  The yard is flat and we have a flat driveway!!  The trees are all around us and there is a wonderful deck that we have enjoyed already! We have had deer in the yard 3 mornings and there is a pond that has ducks that have visited our yard too!!  It is a little cramped for the kids in there rooms but they are adjusting well. It is easier for the older boys to keep their room clean! As an added bonus for me I now have a craft area for my very own that I can craft and keep it out and not have to clear out for dinner!! Pics to come when I get it set up! For now I am still unpacking little bits at a time. I have not had the urge to make anything for awhile now and hope that my mojo will come back soon!  Thanks

Been busy!!

Hi all,
Been so busy lately! I finished up my Father's Day Cards!! and they were mailed out on time!! I had 4 to make! We send one to our parents from our kids!! So here they are!!
For Grandpa I used an image from The Cake Everyday Sampler and welded it together to make a background. Then I used the Chomas Creations glitter gel pen and holder to print the background! Then I welded and cut the word out and matted it and there you have it!!
For my FIL I wanted to make something different. I found this tutorial on the Splitcoaststamper's websight. I used my cuttlebug to emboss my velum and it all came together!!
For this card I just wanted something simple but eye catching. I love the versatility the Chomas Creation pens give me! This card came together very easy!!

This is the card I had the the most fun with!! The sentiment is from the Father's Day Cart. I used the Chomas Creation pen again!! Then cut the silhouette. The paper for the last two projects was from Creative Memories.
Hope you enjoy!

New Card w/ tissue paper.

I belong to a lot of yahoo groups and got an e-mail update from one of the crafty lady’s asking us to check out a new technique!

Terri over at Ramblings of a Texas Craftroom has a great tutorial video on how to make the tissue paper that you used for gift bags into a great card!  I don’t know about you but I always think that the tissue paper always looks so cute and why can’t they make matching cardstock so I could make a card out of that!!  Well thanks to Terri you can!  Not only is tissue paper cute but it is fairly inexpensive and you get a lot of bang for your buck!! Here is the link for her blog post and video!!

Tissue paper tutorial and video

Here is the card that I made right after watching the video!!

Blog award!!

I am so happy!! I got this blog award. From Kathlee over at Kathlee's Snippits & Cricuts Her blog is just amazing! You should go and check her out!
You know how you look at everyone’s great blogs and you see all their awards and you think to yourself wow that would be great if I could get one!  To me this is extra special because this blog all started because I was unemployed and going berserk… I created this blog so I would have a place to let out some creative energy!  I have since found employment but now I have been injured and out for 3 months tomorrow. I am very limited in how much I can do everyday. I have been so inspired by all the blogs out there to keep me going!! I am still not able to craft as much as I want too but everyday brings me closer to getting better.
So if you stayed with me this far I am supposed to choose 10 blogs to give this award to.

Precious Teddy Bear

Gear Birthday Card

This card file came from Wanda’s Craft’s! She is amazing!  I” have a lot of her files! If you sign up for her newsletter she gives you a free SVG file with each newsletter!!
So my friend Jen decided she is not into scrappin’ and card making. She called me up and offered me her stuff. She is a very generous friend!! Well, in her stash she had an Embellishment Punch-out Pack from COLORBOK! The paper and the embellishments are from this pack. Everything is coordinated in the pack too so my card came together quite nicely! Even the tag is from the pack!! The happy birthday is from using pens on the Cricut and the font again I used Thinfont-Thin. This card is for my son’s 14th Birthday!!

Butterfly Square card

Here is another card I made using Veronica's Butterfly Square Card file.  You can get it on her blog here.  She has the most awesome files!!  I made this using paper from the DCWV Summer Dream Stack. I just love theis designer paper it is lovely!  The solid paper is from DCWV the Cardstock Stack!  They were on sale awhile back at Joann’s for 50% of and I could not resist…  I used the Purple Stickles on all the middles and the sentiment is TBD. The tag is a SU punch. Sorry I am bad with the names of those.

Birthday Card!!

I got a file from Veronica over at the http://craftyblonde.blogspot.com/ It was her Peony Card!!
I just loved it and knew I wanted to make it! So here it is. I used paper from DCWV Summer Dream Stack. I cut the card to be an A2 card.  The piece behind the Peony is embossed with the cuttlebug folder designer swirls. I then used stickles on the embossed parts. The sentiment is a TT font called Thinfont-Thin. I used the Cri-Kits Gel pen to draw the Happy Birthday. The Tags are from SU the large and the XL punches. Hope you enjoy!

Mother's day Card

I have a unique situation when it comes to Mother's Day!  I have a mom of course and I have a step-mom who I love to pieces!  Oh and because I am married I have a MIL and I can't forget my dear Grandma who is 98!!  So I am very busy this time of year making cards!  I have the first 2 done!  Whew, only 3 more to go!! I am struggling to get the rest finished. My back is still out and I can only sit and craft for around 20 mins. before I get very stiff and uncomfortable...It is getting better but super slow for the type of ruptured disc I have...Anyhow on to the pics!!
This was made with DCWV paper stack Blossoms and Butterflies
I loved making the Flower!  There are all kinds of tutorials out that
can teach you how to make them it is a bit tricky but well worth the effort as you can see!
Please tell me what you think!

Now for the next one!
I cut this on my E with an MTC file that was on the gallery!  The paper for the background
Was a great find on clearance for 1.99 and it was 24 sheets with a flower theme!
Thanks for looking!!

Freebie Background

I was browsing the free coloring pages through Google search and came across this page and thought it would look great as a background using the Cri-Kits gel pens!!
It is called Snowflakes Coloring page.
I think it doesn't really make me think of snowflakes
But it did seem interesting enough to pull it into MTC and
see how it would look so here it is!!
